What to expect after my son gets out of surgery?

My son is 3 months old and will be 5 months when he goes in for surgery. He was diagnosed with congenital lobar emphysema. They will be taking out his upper left lobe of his lung. The surgery takes about 2 hours and then he will be in the ICU for a day then we will spend about 2-3 days in the hospital. I will be staying at the hospital with him because I am still breastfeeding and plan on doing so for a long time. Do any of you have children who have gone through surgery? How was their recovery? Were they the same babies after surgery? Are they ok now?
